How to Reach

To visit Chitradhara, one will have to reach to jagdalpur. Jagdalpur is connected by bus to Raipur and Hyderabad, and by train to Vishakhapatnam. Chitradhara is 18 Km away from Jagdalpur and lies in the same road of Tamra Ghoomar and Chitrakot. It takes a drive of about 20 min to reach Chitradhara. Its near village Potanar 3km inside.

Being at Chitradhara

The 3km inside track from Potanar is very cool and people coming to Chitradhara love to drive on this track. The moment one reaches Chitradhara one can see a temple situated which is quite common in most of the tourist places. After few steps one can clearly see the water falling in steps. The fall is very beautiful as it is able to show two different aspects first on the upper side of waterfall there are only rocks and rocks while at the lower side it is decorated with greenery. This combination makes it look very beautiful.

Here the water is falling from all the sides, hence there are many small small falls which adds to the beauty of place as shown in figure. Most of the waterfalls are very big and huge are not in the approach of an individual but its not the case here, one can reach and enjoy every aspect of the fall, the rocks lying here and there and the green bushes , the uneven tracks makes the visit adventurous. One can bath in the fall, people love to play in water over here.Chitradhara

Chitradhara is a perfect picnic spot for family, people can sit, enjoy, relax and spend plenty of time without realizing it. The best thing to do in chitradhara is to put legs in water and sit while listening to music. People can visit this place even if they want to go for a drive in evening, the place is nearby Jagdalpur. So buy some snacks and drive to chitradhara to make your evening worth and valuable.

Rainy Season or a cloudy day is the best time to visit Chitradhara, as while riding to Chitradhara one will surely enjoy the cool breeze, the track, the view, the water, greenery and the rocks. Chitradhara where "Chitra" means painting and "dhara" means flow i don't know how the name came into existence but my interpretation is that this place makes u feel that one is part in the painting. Dalpat Sagar: Temple, Fishing, Masti

Sit, Relax and Enjoy its for sure the motto of Dalpat Sagar. Dalpat Sagar one of the prime location for the people to spend time, people gather in large groups can be said as meeting point of Jagdalpur. The following photo shows a soothing view of sunset from Dalpat Sagar.

Sunset Jagdalpur

Temple:- There is a old temple located at the center island of the Dalpat Sagar. The temple is of local deity. As it is located on an island, one will have to take paddle boat or fishing boat to reach there. One should come here as it is a wonderful experience to stand on an island and enjoy the beauty of surroundings.

Fishing:- Dalpat Sagar is one of the major source of fishing and provide means of livelihood to many local people. Group Fishing activity is a treat to watch, one can come up early in morning or in evening to enjoy. One group of people spreads the net in the water while the other group drives the fishes into the net by beating water. Because of fishing one might not be able to explore every part of Dalpat sagar as paddle boats are prohibited in the region where nets are spread.

Boating:- To enjoy Dalpat Sagar, Government of Chhattisgarh has arranged the facilities of paddle boats and motor boat. The paddle boat has two variation 2 seater and 4 seater so that one can enjoy with his family and friends. The shed has also been provided in each boat to protect you from sun. I am sure that you are surely going to enjoy this, really one can spend hours in the water in paddle boat.

Island:-Government has built an island on Dalpat Sagar so that people can sit, relax and enjoy the beauty of the lake. The island is enriched with coconut trees, show plants, a light tower and musical fountain. The light tower can be seen from anywhere in jagdalpur like Dalpat Sagar is calling. One can sit in the island and spend many hours while enjoying the view and the sunset. Musical fountain adds to the beauty of island, show is mostly at 7 o’clock night.

History:- The lake was constructed to harvest rain water by Raja Dalpat Deo Kakatiya about 400 years ago. Dalpat Sagar is the largest artificial lake in Chhattisgarh. Dalpat Sagar is one of the centers of fishing in Jagdalpur thus providing means of livelihood to local people.

I would suggest to take a long drive around the lake after visiting any of the tourist places and returning to jagdalpur as Dalpat Sagar will surely relax you and make you feel contended, one will surely have a good sleep at night. So do meet at Dapat Sagar!!!

Gulmi :- Place with Hidden dangers

Accidents and Deaths define "GULMI" as i had already titled the post as the 'Place with Hidden Dangers'. Gulmi is known to very less people but for those who know it are connected to it becoz of some or other incidents. Gulmi can be developed as very good tourist spot, but not enough attention is given to it by government.

How To Reach:
To visit Gulmi, one will have to reach to jagdalpur in Bastar district. Jagdalpur is in Chhattisgarh and is connected by bus to Raipur and Hyderabad, and by train to Vishakhapatnam. Gulmi is 45 Km away from Jagdalpur.

It takes a drive of about an hour to reach Gulmi. This place c
an be visited at any time of the year but i would suggest not to visit this place during rainy season as it will be dangerous!!!. It would be a good decision if you go by four-wheeler as the road is Murum Road. Also as this is a deserted place people should travel in groups.

Being in Gulmi:

The track drives through Tar-Road, Murum Road surrounded by forest at some places. Gulmi is having two different dimensions(its little bit philosophical); first there is a lake which is very calm, silent and pleasent to watch, the other is rock cuttings making u watchful and concerned. The whole place is surrounded by trees, rocks and water collaborating to spell the magic.
There is a lot of sand at the bank where people can play a lot of games, the place is also surrounded by trees where you can sit under the shadow and enjoy the visit. Again bring your food from the home or hotel as there will be no food shops near by. One can simply sit on the sand and can see the calm lake as well as the astonishing rock cuttings!...GulmiThe picture shows u the rock cuttings along with fast current of water making it a place to watch for. The rock cuttings make the place beautiful as well as dangerous The place is totally uneven and dangerous as at next step there might be a rift of 25-30ft down. It would be a good decision if one simply sit and enjoy the beauty. The people have to be very concern in walking through these rocks as a lot of incidents have happened and there is no one there to safe guard.

You can avoid the dangers which u can see but this place is having hidden dangers. As i have told u about the lake which is calm and pleasent try to imagine it having the similar kind of rock cuttings inside it, then u may be able to understand. Every year many people come to visit this place and go in water to play and are drowned as here you cannot assess the depth , at one place u may be standing 1 ft above water but at next step u might be drowned to 20-30ft. Hence i would say dont enter inside the water. Enjoy the beauty by your eyes dont try to feel please.

I would say that this place test ur Patience and Control, as if you loose them you might end up in serious trouble. I would family with small kids or teens upto 20yrs should not visit this place as there is no scope of error and kids and teens get carried away easily.

Hey after talking enough of dangers, i would say Gulmi is a nice place to visit taking above factors into consideration as this will be give an experience one of its kind and surely will put up an impact on your mind..so do visit Gulmi !!!

Tamra Ghoomar

After talking about the famous falls of Chitrakot and Tirathgarh, lets move towards some underexplored places. Tamra Ghoomar is another beautiful waterfall and a scenic place near Chitrakot. Tamra Ghoomar is located in a very beautiful location, the place is surrounded by greenery. Not many people know about this place, this is an added advantage as this place is in raw form and there has been no effect of tourism in this place. So lets explore the aspects of Tamra Goomar.

Tamra GhoomarView from Road to Tamra Ghoomar
How to Reach:

To visit Tamra Ghoomar, one will have to reach to jagdalpur. Jagdalpur is in Chhattisgarh and is connected by bus to Raipur and Hyderabad, and by train to Vishakhapatnam. Tamra Ghoomar is 45 Km away from Jagdalpur and 10 km away from Chitrakot. It takes a drive of about an Hour to reach Tamra Ghoomar. The best time to visit is after rainy season i.e. one can visit Tamra Ghoomar after August. At this time the fall is in full bloom. I would insist if you are a group of young people, u should prefer bikes to go.

Being in Tamra Ghoomar:-

Tamra GhoomarTamra Ghoomar Fall

If you are going by bike to Tamra Ghoomar then i assure u, that you will enjoy the ride, the ride goes through up and down hills surrounded by beautiful locations and various waterfalls. There are are various spots to the ride to Tamra Ghoomar where one can stop for a while and enjoy the beauty of nature. One can also watch indravati river during the ride. One thing you will have to do consistently is to ask about the road to Tamra Ghoomar otherwise you will end in going somewhere else.
Mystic ViewMystic View
Ok, once you reach Tamra Ghoomar you can see beautiful stream of water surrounded by trees on both sides, some beautifully cut rocks. Here one can enjoy in water and have fun. This is a good place to have bath. If you move towards the upper side you can see the water coming through forest, the view is ausum. You can see the branches of trees touching water.
Again for food you will not get anything here, get it packed from Jagdalpur or you can go to Chitrakot which is 13km away from here to get some snacks, advised to bring food from home. This is a good picnic location.
Visit to Tamra GhoomarPeople having fun
Well when go downside there lies a dead end, and u can see the water falling 100m down. Well its difficult to see from the top directly so you will have to come around to get proper view. Its a pleasure to see the water falling, also a rainbow is formed which increases the beauty. The cutting of the rocks are pleasent to watch, the water flows down through the greenery which makes a very splendid view.
If you like tracking, then Tamra Ghoomar is the place for it. There is a track that goes to bottom of the fall, but it takes around 1:30 hr to go there by walking, the track goes right though the forest and has some ausum views. For this one should be here in the morning.
Tamra Ghoomar is a must watch fall in my opinion, the ride is good, the locations are beautiful. Tamra Ghoomar has every thing for being a perfect tourist spot. As Chitrakot and Tamra Ghoomar lies on the same road, one should visit Tamra Ghoomar first during the morning or day then later on move to visit Chitrakot. Hope you enjoy reading blog i will try to provide more information on Chhattisgarh believe me its one of the best places to visit in India, so do keep reading and provide your valuable comments this will keep me motivated.
